Notes

I knit with two strands at the same time, getting 22 sts per 10cm in garter stitch.

The pattern in the book has a garter stitch brim, followed by two rows of k1p1 rib, then stocking stitch the rest of the way. It gives you a formula for working out how many stitches to cast on etc.

For some reason my hat kept turning out too small - maybe my calculations were out. I ripped and re-knit several times before I realised that my rib portion was much roomier than my stocking stitch. So I replaced all of the stocking stitch with k1p1 rib and it has worked out well.

Also, I didn’t realise until after I’d returned the book to the library that I’d omitted the crown decrease formula - so I had to make that up relying on the past few hats I’ve made according to other patterns.

Only fault is that the rim is very small - but if I were to make it bigger it would be too floppy anyway!
