This is a burgundy yarn, the photos seem to show it as redder than it seems to me.

I had breaks and weak spots when I balled it with a swift and ball winder. I switched to hand winding on the third skein and had only one broken strand spot, so I’m going to do that from now.

The pattern calls to knit the fronts and backs as separate pieces flat. I’m knitting the sweater in the round and then I’ll steek it later, probably using Lucy Neatby’s buttonhole strip.

I started with a provisional cast-on, skipping the ribbing for now.

I’m using Custom Fit at least up to the arm holes, so the photo shows markers for one of the decrease lines, two lines of decreases on both the right and left of the back. I don’t have any decreases on the front.

Almost finished. I need to:

• buy and sew on buttons
• finish off the cuffs.

I used Lucy Neatby’s Magic Buttonhole, size #3 needle for the front opening.

Other changes are a doubled collar, hip shaping across the back, a different sweater width with recalculated decreases for the yoke and different arm width and decreases.
