Notes

I’m knitting these two-at-a-time on two circular needles. I had both legs and heel flaps finished… when I suddenly realised they didn’t fit over my ankles. I frogged both of them completely and started over with even larger needles. D’oh!

Much later: I’m nearly done now. The tension on the 3.25mm needles is working out much better and they do fit over my ankles. I just can’t believe how long these socks have taken me. They’re the never-ending socks!

Finished. I think these took me longer than any other socks, start-to-finish. Of course, I did knit all the way down both legs and then have to completely frog them. Also, every single row in these socks (except for the stockinette toes) is charted, and since the pattern shifts a couple times, I just found it impossible to memorize. So reading charts made it pretty slow too.

I have to say that I really wasn’t impressed with this particular yarn. It’s nice and soft, but it’s also incredibly splitty and it gets fuzzy quickly. I also think that it may be spun incorrectly, as the action of knitting it actually UNTWISTS the yarn as you knit. (Doesn’t matter which end of the ball you use; the stuff still untwists.) It looked gorgeous on the hank, but I didn’t anticipate the obvious striping and pooling that competes with the cables. It’s plenty long though; I still have a decent sized ball left.
