I’ve been in love with this pattern since it first came out, and am just now getting around to knitting it. The Wollmeise Merino DK is a lovely yarn for this design -- the cables really pop.

I elected not to do the Rib Cabled Cast-on -- it is time consuming and fiddly and I didn’t really see any “value added” to using it, so I went with the good ol’ longtail cast-on, eliminating the first two rows of the pattern, starting instead with “work ribbing.”
