Notes

Hmmm… Was very excited at making my first hat but it’s not entirely successful - looks fabulous, but the fit isn’t.

After my mitt debacle I was careful to knit swatches first, and despite using lighter yarn, still had to drop a needle size to get the gauge right.

Followed pattern exactly but finished beret was more like a skull cap. Hoped blocking over a plate might do the trick & give it extra drape but now it’s just floppy.

Maybe DK, though knitting up as the right size, just doesn’t have the heft to make the fabric do as it should?

Will run some elastic through the band and see if I can at least get it to sit on my head. If not I may frog it & try again with a different yarn.

Determined not to let this pattern beat me - and this yarn is too gorgeous to use in something that isn’t wearable.

Giving the pattern 4 stars anyway because it was great to knit and I suspect it was my fault it didn’t fit.
