The owls are kind of like tiki - planning to play that up with paua-like beads for eyes. In Maoritanga they are also guardians, and I like the idea of knitting some sort of protection spell to wrap around Hana as she turns 21.

Really well written pattern; highly recommended. I love that it can so easily accommodate different weights and amounts of yarn. Cabling and beading techniques were explained well too - I wasn’t daunted at all.
