Notes

OK, this is the project where I am going to learn continental knitting. I’ve wanted to learn for a long time, and I figure this is the perfect project to learn on. If I can’t get it after doing thousands of knit stitches, there’s no hope for me. Tension is not too great so far, but getting better.

I tried many short row methods in the beginning of the shawl, but ultimately settled on the one Veera recommends. I read in a short-row article that Veera’s method (w&t, don’t pick up the wrapped stitch on the way back, just knit normally) is the most invisible method when working garter stitch. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best one I tried.

For a nice smooth edge, I knit to the second-last stitch, brought the yarn fwd, and slipped the last stitch purlwise. Also, I knit through the back loop of the first stitch of every row.

Bound off (like many others) with k2tog through the back loops, slip st back to left needle, repeat. I did this VERY loosely.

28g of the blue left after 10th stripe. 5g left after 11th (and last) stripe. 11g of the brown left at end of project.
