Notes

Still haven’t even unravelled everything, let alone dyed it, but I’m starting a page for notes.
Did the first bit of i cord, 16g took an hour, doubled!
The actual knitting is fast, but you have to let the weight and the ball hang as it needs to untwist. So you’re stopping quite often to move the weight up and re secure the ball. Still, I can only get faster right?!

Plan to dye all the pearl grey to red. Slight shame, it’s pretty, but it won’t go with the room and it should be light and neutral enough to take a nice bright scarlet.
Dye the beige silk/cashmere with pale blue in hopes of getting duck egg.
Use latest green sleeveless as is, then lay out all neutrals and see which work and which don’t.
Tried a swatch on 12mm needles, stocking stitch then garter. Resulting fabric is disappointingly not soft, perhaps it needs bigger needles? 12mm is the biggest I have in interchangeables and I think I’ll have to use them, with a couple of cables joined together to fit it all on.

12mm gauge st st 8.5st and 10 rows to 10cm
Garter 8sts and 15 rows to 10cm
15mm 7.5 sts and 13 rows to 10cm

13x13 = 10cm highx16.5 wide (0.0165m2) used 16g. If I aim for 150x120cm (1.8m2) is 109 times more, so I’d need 1745g
Weighed up, I have 1900g.
That’d need 94sts cast on for the short edge, so I’d go 100.
The swatch isn’t as soft as the cord. There’s some clockwise z twist in there.

450g grey and cream to dye red, 187g to dye blue.

Finished dyeing everything oct half term, did camel with turquoise, got a lovely sea green. Also did charcoal, ok teal sort of colour. Didn’t quite get it all wound into balls though….

22-4-17 almost finished the icord, so did a cheeky cast on while waiting for the screwdriver to charge smiling_imp
Done the first graft, went ok, this should be easy…
