12th Oct: Ben’s Christmas jumper. Going to knit in the round except for the intarsia bit which will be knitted flat and seamed afterwards. The rest of the body will be done in the round once the Batman logo is finished.

21st Oct: finished the logo. Cast on one extra stitch on either side of the back left raglan seam for knitting in the flat, which is fine, but then got in a bit of a pickle with the underarm cast on and ended up carrying the seam down offset, following on from the beginning of those cast ons rather than on the side seam. It’s only for a couple of inches though so hopefully it won’t show if I sew it up with mattress seaming. The logo itself works really well.

7th Nov: first sleeve finished, and having thought I was going to run out of black wool, I now think I have enough. Might still do a grey band around the wrist on the second sleeve, just as a feature.

15th Nov: had plenty of black, so lucky I wasn’t organised enough to order some in advance….

Slowest bit (as ever) was sewing in the ends and stitching up the seam from where I had to knit flat to do the intarsia. Luckily the seam doesn’t show too much, though I’m a bit stabby with a needle.

Like the feel of the Big Fabel, though there’s a lot of dye come out of it while blocking. Hopefully that’s just a one off.

29th Nov: finally got some photos of the finished jumper. It grew with washing but as DS2 is taller than both DS1 and DD (who insisted on modelling it a la Superman - doh!) it should be ok. Hopefully I’ll get some pictures of DS2 wearing it at some stage….
