This pattern is from Hatchette Partworks Ltd
Cosy hats and Scarfs

Pattern seems to have omissions, as it states 2 needle sizes, but neglects to say when to change needles, so I used the 4mm for the rib band and the 5mm for the moss stitch after the increase in sts.

Started decreases 04.12.13
Decided to place marker on actual K2tog sts so that I can see where the pattern is going. After a few abortive attempts at following the decrease instructions in the pattern booklet, I decided to abandon them in favour of my own, since I was not getting the neat line of knit stitches on the right side of the hat from those in the written pattern for size Large, or the correct combination of knit and purl sts to achieve the double moss st effect.

My errata notes for decreasing large size hat:

Row 1 Patt 12 K2tog (place marker on st) repeat to last 10 sts. Patt to end.

Row 2 Purl all marked stsotherwise follow K1 P1 patterning to end. (move marker on st)

Row 3 Patt P1K1 for 11 sts K2tog (move marker on st) to last 10 sts, Patt to end.

Row 4 P1 K1 to end.

Continue this 4 row decreasing formula until 30 sts remain.
Next Row: K2tog to end.

It seems though that while the rib brim fits me, the rest of the large size hat is too big for my head! Bought a Styrofoam mannequin head off E bay from China, which took 5 weeks to arrive, but worth it.
