Cute idea, but (of course) I think they should be made backwards:

JMCO 6 (3 on each needle)
Knit round with yarn & tail held together
[YO, k2]
[ktbl, k2]
[YO, k3]
[ktbl, k3]
Knit round plain
[k2, k2tog]
[k1, k2tog]
[k2tog]

Break yarn, thread yarn through remaining 6 sts, and cinch around earbud.
