Notes

2016.08.14

Sleeves done. Probably not on track to finish during the Olympic timeframe.

2016.08.21

Progress on body, but no Ravellenic medal for me.

2016.09.10

Sleeves joined to body, and the chest divided (with 7 stitch overlap) for henley opening.

2016.10.22

Something went horribly wrong with my chest and shoulder calculations, and I ended up with at least 4 inches of extra fabric above the shoulders. Ripped back to underarm join, and proceeding using the numbers from Marshall Sport.

Looking through project photos, I’m noticing that many finished Marshalls have weirdness at the edges of the shoulders. I think Zimmerman may be right, having you decrease some body stitches initially, then sleeves, then a few raglan decreases before saddle?

2016.12.04

Instead of the contrasting shoulder saddles in heel stitch, I worked them in eye of the partridge. I like the way this compressed the row gauge and helped join the saddles more smoothly. I did the same thing across the back of the neck.

Following Marshall Sport, I ignored EZ’s instructions to bring the sleeve join in an inch or so above the underarms. That was a mistake, and the sweater fits awkwardly at the shoulders (but no so bad that I need to rip it back again).

I bought the yarn and planned the sweater hoping to use some beautiful antler buttons I bought a few years ago, but the buttons turn out to be too large for use in a henley.
