Take II
- long-tail tubular cast-on, slip knot then first st a purl. slip knot to be knit w last st of round
- work in the round to underarms
- twisted rib (work first set-up row as per normal, twist knit sts on second set-up row)
- Make it a medallion longer
- BEFORE CASTING ON FOR UNDERARMS, CHECK FIT!!
- 41st crochet cast-ons or use invisible double-sided provisional cast on from letho for sleeves?
- work two sets of short rows into third medallion on front
- Not sure why the ‘knot’ row on right wrist is offset by two rows from the rest of the chart. I worked all knot sts on same row across chart
- cast off neckline on next knit row after first double decr in fourth medallion.
- don’t use sloped bind off bc can’t crochet together nicely. Use short rows instead
take I
- long-tail tubular cast-on
- twisted rib (work first set-up row as per normal, twist knit sts on second set-up row)
- 41st crochet cast-ons
- Sloped bind off as per brooklyn tweed freja. Need to cast off 8 stitches in place of 7 on 4 occasions per side to compensate for extra cast on sleeve stitches
- worked two sets of short rows into second medallion on front
- Not sure why the ‘knot’ row on right wrist is offset by two rows from the rest of the chart. I worked all knot sts on same row across chart
sloped bind off as per freja (BT)
Step 1: Work the first bind off rows at the garment edges as usual.
Step 2: One row before the next bind off row, work to the last stitch of the row, turn.
Step 3: Slip the first stitch from the L needle purlwise, pass the unworked stitch of the previous row over the slipped stitch (the first stitch is bound off). Bind off the remaining stitches as
usual.
13 may - ouch, frogged it.
12 May - the hard truth; it doesn’t fit. Too tight, too short.
9 apr - finished front
6 apr - have cast off neckline on next knit row after first double decr in third medallion. Finished and cast off upper right front/arm.
5 apr - have nigh finished the second of the three front medallions. Worked on two sets of short rows, so front is 4 rows longer at centre front than back. I think they’re worked really well!
3 apr - cast off back. Whoopeee! It’s looking good. knit front until end of the ball which was fortunately before the point at which i was considering short rows for the bust. washed finished back and in-progress front. drying now.
1 apr - cast on for sleeves using crochet chain method, 41ch.
30 mar - both back and front on same needle now. Completed row 31 of chart.
28 mar - seamed ribbing, happy with fit! Have knit 19 rows of body on both sides.
27 mar - finished ribbing for side 2
26 mar - worked first underarm incr row.
25 mar 2021 - long-tail tubular cast on 5.5mm needles, 77 sts. First st is a purl to line up with knit columns in lace. Twisted rib. (Not at all sure why the pattern would have you pick up the ribbing later and knit down)
5 mar 21 - swatched centre lace motif on 5.5mm
