modifications

sleeves - knit flat. picked up 8 sts for underarm instead of 4 plus 1 extra each side to decrease with a paired k2tog/ssk to keep the underarms tight. of the 8 sts, 2 are for the seams so there are 6 underarm sts instead of 4 (54 sts).
use k2tog/ssk for all decreases and decr 5 times (14 row intervals). after last decr knit sleeve to desired length (20 rows). on last row (wrong side) p2tog, p to last 2 sts, ssp (to compensate for seam; seam only to this point). proceed with i-cord bind off in same way as for body (see below)

i-cord bind off - using a long circular needle, finish body on a right side row (don’t do anything with these sts yet), pick up and knit one st per row along the right front, knit across the provisionally cast on neckline sts, pick up and knit one st per row along the left front. using a crochet chain for a provisional cast on, pick up 3 sts with a separate needle. using the other end of the circular needle to that which you have just picked up all the sts around the body with, purl across the three sts as if extending the st count for the bottom of the cardi. turn work and use those three sts to start the i-cord across the bottom of the cardi. at the corner (turning to the right front) knit one row of i-cord without joining it to the cardi both before and after the corner st. at corner from front into neckline do the same.

1 mar - almost there! grafted i-cord edging, looks good. have finished knitting and seamed both sleeves, will get miss bear to try on tomorrow, then it’s only the i-cord bindoff for the wrists (and buttons) to go!
24 feb - ripped sleeves back to second decr. 34 st cuff was going to be way too tight. will reknit using k2tog/ssk. five decreases plus 20 rows.
23 feb - sleeves pretty much knit. not sure if have gone too narrow - will have to check on missbear’s wrist tomorrow. might have to go back and turn last decr? last 2 decrs ? into k2tog/ssk.
18 feb - i-cord bind off on body finished, still need to graft
17 feb - new i-cord bind off done along bottom edge, up right front and onto neckline.
15 feb - finished and then ripped the bottom edge i-cord bind off bc i am having trouble understanding teh instructions. downloaded the french version and it looks like indeed, i should have left them. bottom! am going to do it differently so that don’t have to break thread anywhere. also ripped back sleeve section that i had done bc gauge was v difft in the round. will knit flat and seam.
14 feb - started i-cord bind off. instead of casting on 3 sts i did a crochet prov cast on and knit three extra sts. would like to try and graft the ends of the i-cord together.
13 feb - finished the length of the body!
9 feb - put orange marker in at 36cm length. need to knit 10cms more!
8 feb - finished ribbing. measures 34 cms, need to knit to 46.
7 feb - have completed almost 3cm of the ribbing below the back lace panel. Knitting something in 4ply really is … laborious.
27 jan 14 - ooh, ready to divide for sleeves
