Notes

modifications - work first incrs after 19 rows even. then work 7 more incrs every four rows. work shoulders as per 40” size.
On fronts, work upper body incr/neck decr row. Then work neck decrs as per pattern, sleeve incrs as per back.

4 jul 2020 - I bought good quality rayon petersham ages ago to stabilise the collar on this. And never did. So I guess I never really meant to. Today I searched that ribbon out to use as a waistband on a silk slip. Which meant that I had to do something else to stabilise the edge of this collar. And I did, single line of slip-stitch crochet on the wrong side. And now it is finally, really, done.
26 oct - picked up 56 sts for cuff. On fourth and eighth row - k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1. Cuff is 13 rows and cast off firmly knitwise.
15 oct - three-needle bind off at back neck. I did it w left sides facing. Finished seaming left side.
11 oct - finished knitting left side collar extension. Used mattress st to seam edge of pocket to body of garment. Also basted pocket to body at side seam.
10 oct - completed left pocket.
7 oct - finished right front. Fiddled around a bit w pockets - how to pick up sts from the knitting, rather than knitting g separately. Might need to pick up sts w crochet hook from through stitch, then knit
6 oct - finished left front to collar extension. Right front is only up to 6 sleeve incrs.
5 oct - six body decrs complete. Three sleeve incrs done.
4 oct - have done fifth body decrease on fronts. Have almost used up four skeins.
3 oct - back finished. Again :) both fronts cast on. Feel like I am knitting in the dark a bit bc don’t understand why the garter rib is done w purl rows but trust that it will become apparent. Ribbing and six rows done.
2 oct - finished back. no, frogged back to first upper back increase then worked 7 more incrs every four rows (total 8 incrs over 29 rows instead of 5 increases over 25 rows). takes total sts to 73 as per 40” size. then knit to first two cast off rows but frogged back bc didn’t actually make the 8th incr. fixed that. ready to knit 7 rows even. didn’t bother to mark sleeve opening, will measure it down from shoulder seam once fronts are done too.
1 oct - first ball finished a couple of rows before the 5th decr row. Worked 7 rows even before shoulder shaping.
30 sept - and again. Smallest size this time. Used 5.5mm for ribbing this time, 6.5mm for st st.
29 sept 2018 - cast on and knit garter ribbing on 6mm. Knit 4” st st on 6.5mm. I did so much swatching for this but it’s looking to be wider than it should be. Will need to measure w a tape measure when I get off the couch!!
