row 1 - knit across first mc stripe and first cc stripe, starting above next mc stripe k1, k2tog, k5 around, adjusting so that k2tog always takes place above a mc stripe (may need to adjust to take into account the number of sts picked up along shoulder and in corners). do not k2tog above last mc stripe.
rows 2, 4, 6, 8 - work double decreases at corners by k to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, sm, k, k2tog.
row 3, 5, 7, 9 - k.

• make any adjustments to achieve a multiple of three sts on row 6 by placing any necessary decreases evenly across the back.
• change to smaller needle after garter st rows and proceed as directed.
