Notes

18 aug 2017 - oh dear, almost three years. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. No longer in hibernation, more like deep freeze

colours are:

calico - white
putty - pink
fog - taupe
cloudless - blue
cactus - green

turning this upside down to work top down. Use 5mm hook (used 4mm for Icelandic jacket and it needs to be looser). Plan to incorporate Icelandic jacket patterning into yoke rather than bobble/cluster thing in pattern. Will probably be shorter given that I have much less yarn than required. Bolero w long sleeves? Cardi w short sleeves?

Fsc (foundation single crochet): This creates a beginning row of single crochet, each with its own chain at the bottom, for a sturdy, elastic foundation.

Start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, YO and draw up a loop, YO and draw through one loop on hook (the “chain”), YO and draw through 2 loops on hook (the “sc”). The following stitch is worked under the forward 2 loops of the stem of the previous stitch (into the “chain”). Insert hook into the face of the “chain” and under the nub at the back of the “chain” (under two strands), YO and draw up a loop, YO and draw through one loop (the “chain”), YO and draw through 2 loops (the “sc”). Repeat from for the length of foundation.

uk terms
17 june - looks like about 9” from centre back collar to underarm on one of her cardis
10 feb 2015 - using schematic, sts counts and gauge from lady bug cardi, looks like yoke should be 20cm deep for size 10. Need to actually measure this against one of miss bear’s cardis to see if that is reasonable. Drew up diagram for how pattern rows could fit in w increase rows. Might be nice to use a fair isle, changing one colour at a time approach, rather than out and out stripes. Charted cluster braid insert and zig zag insert.

10 jan 2015 - three swatches done. in order from beginning - 4mm (G), 5mm (H), 4.5mm on nasty hook that I bought at kmart. note to self - buy new 4.5mm hook. (Done)
29 nov - crochet magazine arrived today
14 nov - sigh, on hold until crochet today magazine arrives and i can use the measurements in there to figure out dimensions.
13 nov 14 - had a think about colour and want to go paler around the yoke. frogged and started again. not getting gauge. go up to 6mm hook? seems extreme …
12 nov 13 - actually started crocheting. Started w sfc and a couple of rows in blue. Decided have to work out colour scheme first.
3 nov 14 - transposed pattern today
