- body knit in the round to underarms so cast on 120 sts.
- faux side seams of 1 st in reverses stocking st at st 60 and 120 to flow from ribbing.
- neckline decreases done 1 st in from edge
- techknitter trick of crossing sts at split
- next time (?) would use 3mm and 3.25mm
- grafted shoulder seams instead of 3-needle bind off
- used purl bee short rows tutorial bc i always get the purl side pick ups wrong
sleeves knit from top-down - pick up 48 sts, commence knitting in the round to halfway point (that is, top of sleeve), then knit 15 sts, wrap and turn
- purl 30, wrap and turn
- knit 31, wrap and turn
- purl 32, wrap and turn
- continue in this fashion until there are 10 short rows knit (last short row should be purl 38 sts), picking up wraps as you go.
- wrap and turn and continue knitting in the round. work one more round, picking up the last wrap made.
- then k for 2.5cms in the round. 4 rows of 1x1 rib knit flat, flat seam.
17 dec - report is that it’s the perfect size for 6 month old fiftieth percentile baby Eleanor
7 may - grafted shoulders during train ride. I love Kitchener st. neckband complete. would have been a good idea to use that techknitter trick at the split for the upper fronts. as it is there is quite a gap there. symmetrical gaps so it’s a design feature. knit one sleeve successfully with short rows to shape the sleeve cap. it was all a bit of a guess but worked!
6 may - knitting upper fronts again. k23 sts, start neck decreases on next row, 1 st in from edge. K2tog and p2tog paired. Ssk and p2togtbl paired.
29 apr - oh this is frustrating me. i had almost finished the body and ripped back to where i split for the underarms. then knit the body again and realised that i had stayed using the smaller needle w which i had picked up the sts. will rip again.
