• cast on 96 sts (88 in pattern plus an extra st for each rpt)
• cast on 49 sts, incr to 96 as per tubular cast on method
• rearrange as 2x2 rib
• on first row of ribbing, work 2x2 five times, then k2tog; rpt

22 feb - done, yay!!
21 feb - round 52 done
20 feb - round 24 done.
19 feb - yay, back at it. I have wanted to knit this hat for a long time. Cast on 49 sts on 3.25mm needles, worked 1x1 tubular cast on rows. Changed to 2x2 rib, starting w p2 (just knit first st and made that beginning of round). Changed to 3.5mm needles, k2tog in every sixth k2 pair. Only knitting six rows of ribbing (tubular cast on can count as one). Got most of row 14 done before current ball of yarn ran out. And it’s bedtime.
11 feb 2018 - oh i love to knit but aaargh, sometimes it does my head in. and do i ever learn to read the instructions? i did a lovely tubular cast on for snapdragon and started 1x1 rib, then learned that’s not what the pattern is. cast on again, realised that you can’t reorganise 1x1 rib into 2x2 5 times +1.
