Notes

This pattern is found in the book, Weekend Afghans by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss. ISBN: 0806964863 The afghan made with this pattern is called Autumn Leaves, but it can be made in any shade for a beautiful feminine afghan (or throw, or even baby blanket).

I used a J hook instead of K as called for in the pattern, and my starting chain is somewhere around 180 chains to get the size blanket I wanted.

And note: the pattern is confusing when it says to “repeat row 3 until work measures 55 inches”. Since there are no instructions for a row 3, I’m sure that is a misprint, and it should say repeat row 2 until it measures (really whatever length you want it to be).

The colors in the book are dated, but there are some great simple designs for crocheted and knitted afghans. If you’re looking for a variety of easy afghan patterns I recommend this book
