Notes

NOTE - yarn usage is approximate, I used some of the natural color for test swatches and other projects so I’m not sure how much I actually used.

Did the swatches and US10’s are closest to gauge. Making size 42 since I want it to be roomy like the one on the show.

Need to figure out which collar is accurate (there are 3 options) and also get a zipper.

Restarted. Did part of the back with hue + me, it’s a true bulky yarn. However, they don’t have a gray! Sigh.

01-05-2023

Going to continue with the wool held double. It’s way softer than the hue + me.

01-07-2023

Aaand double is way too big.
Did the first arm and it seems ok like this:
(Single strand eco+)
US7 ribbing
US9 non-intarsia
US10 intarsia
US9 to the top (even the fish sections)

Also did the dec every other side so it looks more even (slip the last stitch, turn, slip 2, BO 1)

01-10-2023

Single Strand Eco wool with US7/9/10 from here on out. Size 42. Hopefully it stretches when I block it or it’s going to be tight.

The plot thickens yet again. I realized I’ve been making the sleeves for the raglan version when I want the set in sleeves to be like the one she wears on the show. The chart for the set-in sleeve was UPSIDE DOWN on a page with the raglan body chart. Wth, vintage patterns????

Also I’ve started all the bottoms of the other pieces…I’m still not convinced it’ll fit but we’ll see! Thinking maybe I should do 10/10.5 for the body sections???

Also of note - the pattern specifically says MMaxim patterns only Dec on the knit rows. So that’s interesting. Doesn’t match their charts.

2/11/23
I did all the bottoms of pieces a few weeks ago.

Completed the right front today using US7 for ribbing, US9 for white and us 10 for the rest bc it worked better. Still will need to block a lot probably.

02-12-2023

Started colorwork part of left front. The pocket has to be 12 stitches from the center, the instructions fixed one mistake but not a 2nd one.

3-17-23
Picked this back up again. Started working on the back with Hue+ co (US7 for rib / US 10 for body) (finished back)

4-7-23
Finished the right/first arm

4-9-23
Finished right body piece and the shawl collar (which I hope is the right one!)

4-11-23
Finished left body piece. Just the other arm to make now! I also noticed on the actual MSW sweater, the fish are swimming the same direction! So the pattern doesn’t match the sweater on the show. (the fish nose always points right)

4/14/23
Finished weaving in the ends.
Sewed all pieces together except pockets and managed to spill coke on the front right as I was working on it. Cleaned it but have to wait for it to dry.

Undid half of the collar bc the adjustments I made to the front/sides made that part less wide. (Used US9 for the collar)

Last part is making sure I like all the seams and then sewing those ends in. And the zipper.

4/15/23
DONE! used double-sided tape to install the zipper and just left it because why not. (30” zipper worked perfectly)

Overall….glad I finished it but this pattern was HARD due to it being older and (photocopied?!) edits.
