Notes

Second attempt, with more consistent yarn.

Knitting the stripes means there more yarn ends to darn in. At least make the sleeves solid.

I knit the main section first, in the round, putting arm stitches on stitch holders.

Estelle Merino DK knits to a tighter gauge. To compensate, I increased to 33 sts when starting the head. Increase each puppet “hand” by one stitch after the sleeve.

I end the sleeves 2 rounds earlier than pattern, adding 2 rounds of flesh colour to hands.

I tried crocheting the hair as written, but I felt I wasn’t getting it right. So I made up the hair. Choose a stitch on the head, and sc in that st with your hair-coloured yarn; then ch 4. repeat in the next stitch of your choosing. This will create loops of chain stitch on the head. Continue until you’re satisfied with the result. For longer curls, do 6 slip stitches.
I tried several times before I was satisfied.
Black Red Heart Shimmer.

I think the nose could be done when knitting the head. Wrap the “nose” stitch 3-4 times and continue. The puppet will be smoother on the inside than if you embroider, and fewer yarn ends to darn in.

If knitting in the round, you can decrease stitch count by one; no need for seam allowance.
