I’m using a 46” circular as suggested by the instructions for the size 3. It’s pretty crowded on there for the first few welts, but gets better as you go along.
As of 6/14 I’m on the 11th welt and the colors of this yarn are gorgeous!
6/18 update: When you get to the point of starting to work back and forth, make sure the split is in the middle of a long section of the oval. I had problems with the numbers in the pattern not matching up so I had to frog several rows once i realized it didn’t look right.
7/1: I finished the knitting yesterday, blocked it overnight, and seamed it up this morning.
A few important notes: For a size 3, I ended up running out of color C for the last repeat of the color sequence so I just skipped it and went on to D. There was just enough of color D to make it work. Also, the sleeves ended up about 3” too long, even though I had reduced the length by 1” while knitting. I imagine I could reblock the sleeves to be wider, thus reducing the length, but the fit is very near perfect at the arms and underarms so I don’t want to mess with that. I think I’ll steek and knit a cuff as suggested on Sandra McIver’s website.
I have quite a bit of this lovely yarn left--perhaps the total equivalent of 2 skeins, but in various colors.
I think the pattern could have benefited from some tips on how to handle the frequent color changes in order to minimize weaving in the ends. It’s a hassle to do the bind offs every row in the sleeves when you’re trying to carry the yarn. I muddled through but I don’t get the impression I was always doing the best thing.
I’m slightly ashamed to admit after switching to working flat, it took one full welt of cutting the yarn at every color change before I realized I could shift the position on the needles so I could knit with color B, then knit with color A, Purl B, Purl A, then Knit B to do one of the welts with the colorways alternating, carrying the yarn instead of cutting.
