Notes

lovely mister fox,
had a rough time with him during the making,
but as soon he was necking me i fell for him of course.

body is super long for a lot of ease around the neck,
head is knitted on 8mm needles and yarn held double,
14mm black glass bead eyes.

using the leftovers from my first fox stole and the Cocoon in Amber as suggested in the pattern to make a male version as well. who doesn’t need some good male friends in their life, right?!

2013-04-28
having a hard time with the guy this time around.
started on the recommended 7mm needles but it was too loose, gone down to 6mm needles, now the stitches are all crooked and weird looking.
starting again.
at the moment all of my knitting projects are giving me a hard time….

2013-05-01
finished the body with a length of circa 31 inch.
knit two more rows of the small tail part.
knit the CC2 part 4,5 inch long instead of 2,5.
made the CC1 top part longer till i felt it looked good.

2013-05-04
finished legs and ears.

2013-05-05
finished all the knitting.
all ends secured.
down for blocking today.

regretting i made the thing on 7mm needles, in retrospective the 6mm would have been wiser, the blocking might have taken care of the irregularity, but now i have a very loose fabric and that is fine for the body but i fear about the head part and what will happen when i stuff it….

2013-05-06
sewed the head together, filled it with stuffing, and it is bad. have to knit it again on smaller needles. sigh.

made the head on smaller needles again and it is an desaster, it is tiny! especially on this large body. i am so sad an frustrated i don’t know what to do!

2013-05-07
went to bed yesterday after all the head-craziness and was so sad and thought about it and thought about and then i had a revelation: why not hold the yarn double! and knit it on even larger needles?! i wish that this will be finally working!!! wish me luck! major headache day today…..

2013-05-08
realized that if i make the head larger i also need a new pair of ears….. so i made them. glad i bought 3 skeins of the Amber Cocoon, it is nearly all gone now!

2013-05-09
still a lot of stuffing showing with the new head. sewing the biggest gaps toghether, which makes the stitches go all wonky again… just want to finish him really….this guy is trouble!

2013-05-12
now also the eyes i wanted to use are too small and i couldn’t find larger ones in my local craft supplies stores…. purchased some online, now waiting…

2013-05-15
finally finished him!
sewed the head to the body,
sewed the ears to the head,
and settled on 14mm glass bead eyes.
i am so tired now.
looking at him.
not so sure.
we’ll see tomorrow….
