This pattern in inspired by the “olive leaves” pattern of the traditional kufiyas which I find beautiful for rithm and simplicity. The motif encloses a strong message: the olive tree as an icon of palestinian heritage. Olive tree as a simbol of resistance, of attachment to the land, of steadfastness, of Sumud.

A tiny knitted flag that I designed on oct 9th 2023. I will sew mine on my purse, but it can be easily be used as a patch or be gifted to friends. The pattern uses Intarsia and stripe colorwork and it can be easily be worked in diffrenet yarn/needle combination to get different item size.

Irene means Peace in old Greek. Peace is necessary to preserve the planet to next generation, peace is built on social and international justice. Peace is life.

Yarn: DK cotton yarn (100 gr/ 240 mt) of your choice, mercerized or brushed, 150 ( 200 gr). For the pictured sample (size XS, cropped) I used less than 100 gr of white ( main color ) and some leftovers for the stripes.
