Knitting: Scarf
This pattern gives two ways to achieve the same result based on the texture of the yarn you’re using. This is a great way to learn about the nature of brioche/tuck stitchwork as a jumping off point to working more complex brioche/tuck stitch patterns or designing your own!
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These are just the thing to wear when you need to keep your hands warm but your fingers free. I designed them because I saw a stitch pattern I really liked, but it was knit stranded (of which I am not a fan). So I came up with a slipped-stitch technique to alternate two colors so you only need to work with one color at a time. By doing the thum...

Knitting: Scarf
I’m a big fan of short scarves that keep your neck warm but don’t take a lot of “extra” knitting. This one has a cute little rosette that acts as a button to keep the scarf on and keep your neck nice and toasty! This looked like a scarf I thought my favorite Downton Abbey character would wear so it was named in her honor.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Who says being spineless is a bad thing? Usoa is an “invertebrate” shawl that couldn’t be simpler to make. Instead of starting with just a few stitches and increasing to a miserable number, or at the outside edge with a daunting number of stitches, all the stitches are cast on at the neck edge then decreased down to a point. The edging is knitt...
Knitting: Cowl
Make 3 of these in the amount of time it would take to make a normal scarf. Great for gift knitting, leftovers, and small putups of luxury yarn!

When the winter doldrums have you down in the dumps, what better way to brighten your day than to swath yourself with sunlight, honey, gold, and warmth? Esti uses knit and crochet motifs for texture; some hues gleam and glow while others recede like shadows. Esti is a perfect way to stave off Old Man Winter’s icy blasts and gray skies while kee...

Knitting: Animal Toy
Blub…blub…Meow? Jules Verne himself couldn’t have dreamed up such a fanciful creature. Half feline, half cephalopod—part creature of the Abyssal Plain, and part Abyssinian. Octopuss is an adorable toy that is sure to delight anyone. Make it for a gift in the recipient’s favorite colors, or in effigy of your own kitty (or your own octopus, if yo...
Knitting: Scarf
~I think of this as a “scawl.” A scawl is small like a scarf and lacy like a shawl.~

I designed this pattern specifically for all of the Noro Silk Garden Sock I have laying around. The colors emanate from the center of the star much the same way light radiates to us from distant stars. This is also a great way to use up handspun or mini-skeins for a one-of-a-kind scarf.
