Breakwater Socks, my first collaboration with Brine Dyeworks, are a striped mosaic colour work sock.

Freshet, named for the beautiful Nechako River that flows through my back yard in Northern British Columbia. As the spring approaches, the river moves faster and chunks of ice break free from the frozen banks. This is the spring thaw, or Freshet.

Thicket is named for the wild tangle of birch and pine in my secluded little forest. Walks through this magical place are cool, as the canopy only permits faint slivery streams of sunlight, bathing the woods in an ethereal glow. As such, extra warmth is always welcome.

The slip stitch pattern of these cozy socks reminded me of warm flannel in winter. The fabric of these socks is very thick and squishy! They are like a typical dk weight boot sock, and are very warm. Excellent for hiking, fishing, skiing, or any outdoor activity you like!

They are like a worsted weight house or slipper sock, and are very warm. Excellent for fireside lounging, coffee drinking, apres ski, and general cold weather snuggling up!

The breezy laid-back vibe of the beach is what inspired this pullover. I picture wearing it as I wander along the sand picking up the treasures the waves rhythmically reveal. This tee is a little bit classic, a little bit ‘boho’ and easily dresses up or down. I know this easy to wear pullover will become a summer layering staple in your wardrobe.

Here in British Columbia we have a spectacular coast line. It is rugged and dense, and the colours are rich and moody. My parents view, in the West End of Vancouver, is English Bay, Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains. This view frequently takes my breath away, particularly on stormy days. These mitts are based on a popular cable motif often referred to as the Ionian Cable. Reminiscent of ancient Greek columns this symmetrical, elegant cable is an easy and fun knit. The rest of the mitt is straight forward stockinette stitch and is constructed in the round with a gusset thumb.

Socks are my favorite! I have been making and teaching socks for many years. This is my basic toe-up, reinforced heel flap recipe. It is worked in a heavy fingering weight yarn, knitted tighter than suggested gauge, so that it will wear for a long time. My oldest pair of socks is 9 years old. No holes yet!
