I was swatching this stitch pattern to use in another design, but it really demanded its own showcase. A 4 row pattern, offset to form an 8 row repeat, means it’s easy to memorise.

Foxash is a place that only properly exists in the past. It was one of the Land Settlement Association’s horticultural sites from the 1930’s until the 1980’s. Initially to help with post WW1 unemployment, the sites became important food producers during WW2. Some greenhouses and horticultural activity still exist in the area in North Essex.

A versatile design which can be made in a single colour or multiple colours. The sample uses 4 colours in each square. Each sample colour is used once in each segment (i.e. each colour is used to work each round of the design once, but across 4 different squares).

This square has been designed to fit the standard of 12 inches when worked in worsted weight yarn. When worked in thinner yarn the square will be smaller. My samples were worked in Stylecraft DK and measure 8.5 inches.

1st October BAM CAL release: Join in at 2017 Crochet Block A Month CAL

These socks were inspired by the landscape of Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim on the Northern Irish coast. The distinctive hexagonal columns were formed from the mineral basalt. This pattern features hexagonal motifs and defined columns of texture.

The town of Maldon in Essex, England is known for its production of sea salt. This pattern combines the gently lapping waves of the estuary waters with a crystalline pattern to represent the salt.

The 9th annual Sock Madness competition is now over. This pattern was available to everyone in return for a donation to Medicine sans Frontier (Doctors without Borders) - until the p/hop site became unavailable. It is now a free Ravelry download.

This square has been designed to fit the convention of 12 inches with worsted weight yarn. Using yarn of a different weight will produce a different size. The sample was worked in DK on a 4.5mm hook to produce a 9 inch square.

This square is the first of a series inspired by children’s stories, in this case “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.

This is the September 2012 UK Sock Knitters KAL Mystery Sock design.

Three sizes are given in this pattern with a mathematical theme. Choose your normal sock yarn and needles and match to the nearest size, bearing in mind that many people find they knit colour work at a tighter gauge.
