The crocheted granny square is deeply rooted in American history. Utilized on the wagon trails headed west during the American Gold Rush, to couture fashions of today, the Grannie/Granny Square is one of the most well-known motifs in the crochet world!
This Wizardly Scarf pattern was inspired by the very first Harry Potter film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone;” of which a striped scarf of red and gold, representing the house of Gryffindor, sits neatly folded in the room that the characters Harry and Ron share during their stay at Hogwarts.

Long before I figured out the world of increases and decreases, as a child I would crochet “Herbies,” a hairy creature from within my imagination, and give them away as tokens of my friendship, appreciation, and love. With a face like Herbie’s, he is hard to resist befriending.
What happens when crochet stitches are stacked and linked? It creates a very unique looking fabric with “soft & springy” stitches! To the crocheter’s delight, this pattern works up quickly, almost having an “addictive, one more stitch” rhythm to it.

In today’s world, aside from trying to save money in today’s tough economy, there is also a need to save our world. This bag is created by recycling old T-shirts and can be used to tote everything from groceries and beach supplies, to yarn from our favorite local yarn shops.
