I’ve given this cosy extra warmth by knitting a lining in stocking stitch. The cosy is made up of 2 rectangles, sewn at the sides and tied at the top with a braid. No recommendations are given for the spout and handle openings size so that it can be customised to your tea pot.

These instructions are for a basic sweater in stocking stitch (st st). On this version I knitted a cable pattern on the back (taken from a panel designed by Melissa Leapman used on her Men’s Entwined Circles Pullover).

I designed this to cover a tin can, but it could be used with a glass jar of similar size. The can or jar can then be used as a vase or desk tidy or anything else you can think of. I wanted to cover a 400 ml bean can, but with a simple adjustment to the pattern (the Fair Isle pattern repeats every 4 stitches) it can be made to fit whatever size...
