This basic brioche stitch cowl is anything but basic. If you’ve never knit brioche before, this is the place to start - the repetitive rounds are soon committed to memory, and you’ll find the developing fabric so intriguing.

While I’ve said that gauge isn’t overly important, you should be after a nice fabric that appeals to you. I had fluid fabric that was not sloppy on 3mm needles. If you’re a tight or loose knitter, your mileage may vary. If you’re swatching, which I recommend, do so in pattern.

If I was smart, I wouldn’t have used wobbly homespun to develop a pattern, but hopefully you can make sense of it and have some fun.
