At the beginning of Covid the ELCG (East London Crochet Group) released the 25 Years and Counting CAL based on Barbara Mann’s original double filet/interlocking squares from 1995 which has now not only been finished by members of the group but by people all around the world.

Margaret O’Mara designed this square at one of Barbara Mann’s workshop at our annual crochet retreat. She gave me permission to turn it into a written pattern and share with you all.

This square was designed as part of a Barbara Mann workshop where we talked about designing simple squares using no diagonals.

This pattern is for a double filet/interlocking crochet afghan square which uses the ELCG (East London Crochet Group) format of both written instructions and a graph. This square was designed to introduce diagonals to those new to them in double filet, It also includes a separate work sheet, with photographs, to explain the new abbreviations DB...

This pattern is worked using the double filet/interlocking crochet technique. It is worked in one piece and not in separate squares and has both written instructions and a graph pattern.

These squares are beginner colour change squares in double filet, and although they are not original 25 Years and Counting CAL squares they are identical in size and can be added to the blanket.

This is a 13 by 13 double filet square pattern which can be used alongside the 25 years and counting CAL designed by Sheila Richardson one of of the original members of the East London Crochet Group. This pattern was designed at a similar time and she has written up her design for us to share.

This is a pattern for the East London Crochet Groups ‘25 years and Counting’ CAL based on some recently rediscovered samples crocheted by Barbara Mann at the start of the East London Crochet Group in 1995.
