Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern was designed to teach Magic Loop knitting. It includes the class pdf with photos, instructions, and hints for doing Magic Loop.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves, Mittens
The Basic Bulky Mitten and Mitt is intended as a first mitten to knit in the round. You can choose to knit the mitten, or stop where you like to create a mitt. I developed it for a class taught at Moss Brook Fiber Arts.

This hat makes a good introduction to stranded colorwork. While the pattern is basic and is presented in both graphed and written form, the final product looks great. Use one or two contrast colors or a striped yarn for contrast to get a more complex look.

Use any worsted wool that knits at about 5 stitches to the inch in stockinette. The original was knit in Liberty Wool, a washable worsted weight.

Based on Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Pi method, this half circle shawl is knit in garter stitch with eyelet rows and a Feather and Fan border. It begins at the center of the top, with rows becoming longer as you work increases down to the scalloped edge.

Any beautiful yarn between fingering and sport weight will work for this shawl; the lace will vary in sheerness.

Once it is finished, the student can choose one of the patterns to make a worsted weight scarf with the same number of stitches, or a heavier weight scarf with 25 or even 15 stitches.
