Softies are hand knitted prostheses for breast cancer survivors. Knitters love the way they start and find the pattern is quickly memorized. The shaping on the back is reminiscent of shaping the crown of a hat. The size of the Softies can be customized by adding or removing some of the fill through the opening in the back.

Closed Double Wing is usually worked with yarn over eyelets but I wanted more definition in the pattern so I opted to close them with strategically placed increases. Richly embossed Orange Amber Shell is a short-cropped quick pullover to wear alone or over a t-shirt. Cute and tangy, just like an orange.

Beginning with the flap, which is worked in rows with increases on both the knit and purl sides, the purse flap takes shape. This lovely caplet slips over the shoulders for a carefree wrap that adds interest and intrigue when one tries to figure out how the front plait was completed! Plaiting or twisting knitted ladders, interlacing them, which are then grafted to the opposite side results in a cascading plait down the front of the caplet.
