Knitting: Scarf
This is a multicolor double knit scarf using motifs from Armenian carpet designs. The highlight of the scarf is the two Armenian dragons. This scarf is knit from six colors of Knit Picks lace weight yarn, both Gloss Lace and Shadow Lace. The transition between motifs is possibly unique - at least, I haven’t seen any other designs using this con...

Here’s the thing. Some days, when I have to walk to the subway, then to work and it’s oh-dark-thirty and the wind is knifing through the street canyons, I need a hat. A no-nonsense, seriously warm hat. This is it. The Betsy is double thick and reversible, made in double knit ribbing. It’s alpaca, which is warmer than wool, and softer. It’s got ...

Central to the plot of the feature film Serenity lies the Fruity Oaty Bar commercial. An Alliance assassin has embedded within that syrupy ad a code meant to force River to reveal herself. But it also dislodged a foreign memory in her, of someone or something called… Miranda. And the secret information buried within Miranda can tear the Allianc...

Consider the dimetrodon: not really a dinosaur, not really a reptile, not really a mammal. Huge, slow moving, with a beautiful, ludicrous sail on its back, dimetrodon prowled crocodile-like, grabbing and crunching critters in its sharp, sharp teeth. Sadly, there are none left to terrorize land and water today, but we can still honor them.

Jane set down her pen to blow into her aching hands. Despite the fire in the fireplace, the room would not release winter’s chill. Jane resolutely picked up her pen again – she had left her characters in tangled heartache, and she could not bear to allow them to remain so for longer than necessary.

This little guy was inspired by a song from The Doubleclicks (a fabulous geeky sister band from my neck of the woods, Portland, Oregon) called Clever Girl, about Hollywood stereotypes and self worth. It made me feel that everyone should have a velociraptor hat.
