Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl incorporates a simple textural design into the classic triangular shape. Using a combination of stockinette, half-linen, reverse stockinette, and garter stitches, this shawl forms structured tiers or “switchbacks”, much like the mountain trail that it is named after: the Perseverance Trail system of Juneau, Alaska.
Named for the small village of Sherbrooke, on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia, this cowl combines a simple twin rib with a special yarn to create a classic cool weather accessory. The cowl provides warmth without the bulk of a scarf. This cowl is extra long, allowing the wearer to pull the cowl over the head as a hood/neckwarmer combination.
This cowl was inspired by the varying shades and textures of lichens. Knit simply in the round with added texture of purl rows and color changes, this cowl can be worn with the “right” and “wrong” side out.
