The center heart in the second picture is embroidered and optional. It is not included in this pattern. Gauge is not really important for this piece. I am a knitter of moderate speed and I can finish this blanket in about fifteen hours.

This pattern arose from a need to use up my huge amount of scrap yarn from other projects. The one I made is out of worsted weight acrylic and used a J size hook. Gauge does not matter much for this hat. The band is stretchy to fit most infants. The hat can be sized up by changing yarn size and hook size. The band can be turned up for newborns, or turned down for older infants.
