You can use a lighter weight yarn and smaller hook to make a child-sized version.

This pattern can be made in virtually any size and using virtually any weight of yarn. The instructions are for an average adult-sized head, using worsted or aran weight yarn. You can adjust, depending on the yarn weight and the size desired.
