This slightly slouchy beanie is a relaxing knit with a twisted rib brim and a little concentration required for the textured sections. I imagined the texture in the pattern to resemble the Maule’s Quince flower, which grows abundantly in the spring in the Shakespeare Garden in Central Park.

I imagined this pattern to reflect both the madness in the colors and these uncertain and tumultuous times in our society. The beanie’s simple construction and bright colors are meant to provide relaxation—a temporary break from what’s going on in the world.

I thought about designing the Royalty Beanie after becoming so exhausted and angry over the constant racism that’s prevalent all over the world.
