The fiber in this yarn comes from the Pronsolino Ranch in Mendocino County, California. The Pronsolinos originally emigrated from Italy, and have homesteaded their ranch since 1901. Angelo is the eldest son, has lived on the ranch his entire life, and at the age of 89, still tends his sheep.

The yarn is spun by Mountain Meadow Wool, a mill in Wyoming that uses citrus-based soap and mechanical methods to clean and card the fiber. It’s spun semi-worsted from a carded prep, so it’s lofty and nice to work with, yet the Corriedale fiber is sturdy and a good workhorse. It will wear nicely, and won’t pill as much as merino. The yarn is a 3-ply aran weight, is very round with a nice tight twist, and is of a consistent thickness throughout. The stitch definition is outstanding, cables will pop!
