Cotton, bamboo and linen. The combination of raw materials is already thrilling – it is not often that we meet them together – but if you pull apart the end of the yarn and examine the structure then you will really appreciate it. It is a carefully planned and elaborated yarn, shrewdly made up of twenty threads. The thread structure results in an especially durable yarn with a fine surface.

If your son or husband quickly wears away the knitwear you laboured on for so long, or if you often abrade the sensitive material say at the armhole, then knit a jumper or cardigan from Sailboat and you will be surprised how much the shape will endure. The linen ensures a long-wearing toughness and prevents your finished work from stretching. At first it does not seem the softest of yarns, but already in the course of knitting it you will feel that it really is fine to the touch – you are simply going to love the finished result. After one or two washes it will be such a delightful item of clothing that you will not want to take it off.
