Originating from the native sheep which have roamed the South Downs for many hundreds of years, the Southdown breed is renowned for its fine and dense wool, and short fleece.

This yarn comes from a small pedigree Southdown flock grazing river meadows and grassland around Sandy, Bedfordshire. They were sheared in June 2012, the fleeces were then hand sorted before being sent for spinning.

The yarn is medium soft, good for outer garments, nice, firm and bulky. It comes in c. 100g skeins in natural white, fuchsia pink, deep blue, very dark navy, jade green and milk chocolate brown.
