Naturally dyed 52% kid mohair / 48% superfine merino American Wool yarn, raised in Texas and milled in Pennsylvania

4-ply worsted weight - US 8 = 5sts/inch

3.5 oz / 100 g / approx. 225 yards per skein

Mordanted with alum to increase color/light fastness (except indigo-dyed yarns, which require no mordant), then dyed with natural dye extracts and/or plants grown/gathered by me.

Smooth, superfine merino for softness and superfine kid mohair for a gentle halo and added warmth. The fiber for this yarn is supplied by Texas ranch families whose heritage dates back to the 1800’s. One skein for a cushy hat or a warm, soft pair of mitts. Round, 4-ply yarn shows texture and cables very well!

Hand wash/wool soak in cool water & gently block (without over stretching) or lay flat to dry.

Natural colors change and evolve slightly with wear and love. This is part of their appeal to me. Indigo is unique, in that the color does not penetrate the fibers like other natural colors; it adheres. As such, with heat of hands and pressure of needles/hook, some color may rub off. This is called “crocking.” All indigo yarns have been washed in unscented eco soap and rinsed multiple time to minimize this as much as possible. All naturally dyed fabrics should be stored away from sunlight.
