80% Young Goat Australian Mohair / 20% Silk - A UNIQUE YARN BASE
An unbrushed, worsted spun 2 ply yarn available in 16 color options.

Knitting Gauge: US Size 3 (3.25 mm) = 24 sts, 35 rows (4 x 4 inch)
Crochet Gauge: US Hook G6 (4.0 mm) = 19 sts, 33 rows (4 x 4 inch)

We recommend working in needle size US 6 - US 11 as these provide a range from soft, draping fabric to an airy, lightweight open lace. The yarn will translate easily from Colinton’s Lace patterns with minimal effort. We always highly recommend washing and blocking the finished piece to smooth the appearance of uneven stitching.

This yarn is our newest addition to our yarn bases. We have combined a new and more genetically refined Young Goat Mohair fiber with silk, resulting in a slightly less dense knitted result. The fiber is extremely soft, providing nearly the same look and relaxed ply angle of our Pure Lace; with little to no halo. It will hold more structure without sliding, as the silk component (believe this) actually has more of a ‘sticky’ quality about it than the mohair! (we would all believe just the opposite but that is just how good the mohair fiber is!)

’Young Goat’ is actually a classing term in the supply of mohair to the textile market. Although this fiber will indeed have a micron of 29.5; it has the handle of Fine Kid. Gorgeous, lustrous.

We wanted to delve into blends of fiber: but having now done it by introducing this yarn - and fun to do this (!) - Understand that Colinton will always remained focussed on Mohair!
