Rosabelle is a fluffy fleeced Romney sheep from the Long Branch Fjords and Fiber Farm in Swannanoa, NC. We were lucky enough to get some of her gorgeous fleece and bring it to the Echoview Fiber Mill just 30 minutes north.

Western North Carolina has a large and diverse fiber shed with over 500 fiber farms within a 100 mile radius of Asheville, NC, where Fern Fiber is located. Supporting this fiber community is the Echoview Fiber Mill, where Rosabelle’s fleece was washed and spun into yarn. With a commitment to the land that sustains them, Echoview’s roof holds 196 solar panels, producing about half of the mill’s electricity, large windows to allow for ample natural lighting, and an efficient water filtration system that allows the ‘scouring’ water to be reused to water the plants on the property.

You are buying the eco-spun yarn of a happy, healthy ewe living in the emerald forest and fields of Western North Carolina, the oldest mountains in the world!

We collect most of our dye materials from local gardens, forests, and farmers. Depending on the season, weather, soil quality, etc. the results of our naturally dyed yarns can have some variation in colors. The colors may also change slightly over time and wear. This is part of the appeal of natural dyeing. The yarn you receive may not look exactly like the one pictured in the listing, but we do our best to make it as close as possible. Please keep in mind that monitor colors can vary, though we’ve done our best to capture our yarns accurately.

Hand wash gently with a mild soap in cold water and lay flat to dry.
