With Katla Sokkaband, Hélène Magnússon has created the first Icelandic sport/DK yarn and sock yarn made of soft Icelandic lambswool carefully selected from Icelandic farmers, with a dash of silk (1%).

Katla is just as strong and durable as any other sock yarn blended with synthetic fibers, the coarser hair of the Icelandic wool and the silk acting as nylon. This versatile yarn can be knitted with a variety of needle sizes and makes beautiful socks but also light sweaters, scarfs and mittens and is even suited for baby garments. It can also be used as a yarn base for indie dyers.
