My hand painted Holistic Merino Yarns are made with certified Australian NewMerino® wool. NewMerino® is a certification system for Australian merino wool grown by professional wool producers using sustainable farming systems and holistic animal welfare standards. I’ve chosen to use wool from these farmers because of their respect and dedication to both the environment and to animal welfare.

The minimum care requirements for sheep raised on NewMerino® certified farms are:

Freedom from thirst and hunger
Access to adequate shelter
Freedom to behave naturally
Freedom from stress, pain and fear
Prevention or treatment for injury, disease or parasite infestation
Surgical mulesing is specifically not permitted under the NewMerino® certification program.
