  1. (stative) be tawny, rusty-coloured, brownish-orange. (in Maori)

peapeau is Rusty Ferret’s first double knit base. As a knitter with sensitive skin I was looking for something similar to merino in softness but something a little bit different. Polwarth was the base that I settled on. It is a breed from New Zealand that is actually a cross breed of Merino and Lincoln. Polwarth has a long staple length which means its soft, has a beautiful lustre and actually does really well in wet conditions (woohoo for Scotland) and has a beautiful drape.
