Ullcentrum’s own variation of Tweed/Shetland yarn.

What distinguishes Tweed and Shetland yarn is that the Shetland sheep are a bit special although their wool is the same type as the Swedish native breeds Värmlandsfår, Roslag and Gotland. This means that on the same sheep the wool fibers vary in thickness and, to a certain extent, also quality. It can be both soft undercoat and a little coarser topcoat in the same fleece.

Ullcentrum have made their own version of Tweed / Shetland yarn. We have mixed wool fibers of different characteristics as well as mixed various colour, which we have then spun together. So far we have three new beautiful colours that shimmer nicely.

The name of the wool is inspired by the Öland nature, especially the limestone barren plain, Alvaret, for which Öland is known.
