My Designer Story:

I learned to crochet in 2015 and started designing my own patterns in 2019. A stay at home mum of two preschoolers, I day-dreamed about selling my patterns, just like the designers I’d discovered and loved. But who was I to do such a thing?! I was self taught! I’d learned by doing, with YouTube and books and lots of false starts and swearing!

But the dream kept nagging at me and so I decided to do this thing right. I enrolled with the American Crochet Association and got back to the basics I’d never worked through into step by step as a beginner. I completed the ACA Crochet Mastery Program first and studied everything from yarn types (possum, anyone? Um yeah nah lol) to speciality stitches and everything in between. I learned to tell my bobbles from my clusters (controversial topic!!) and began to write my designs according to the definitions and abbreviations set out by the Craft Yarn Council.

Upon completion of that course I immediately started working toward the ACA Pattern Writing Certification, which I also completed in 2021. I then opened my Etsy shop (and put prices on my Ravlery designs) in July of that year. Yup I felt the fear, and did it anyway!! By way of a few name changes and websites here I am in 2024 with bestcrochetlife.com, thousands of pattern sales (across Etsy, Ravelry, Lovecrafts and Hobbii), and consistent Etsy Star Seller status. I now - still pinching myself! - have a solid reputation as a trusted crochet designer with a great line in popular, no-fluff crochet stitch photo tutorials (included in ALL my patterns) that help YOU live your BEST CROCHET LIFE!

Being creative is everything to me and I get such a buzz from seeing my designs brought to life by my happy customers!

I truly believe that we are ALL creative, and anyone can crochet anything they want to! All you have to do is learn the stitch you don’t know, be ok with making mistakes, practice, practice, practice…
